The Chilterns an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty can be found in the UK a few miles North West of London. The Chilterns begin in Oxfordshire in the Thames Valley and stretch north-east through Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire to Hitchin in Hertfordshire. Within the quite valleys of the Chilterns you will find pretty buildings from flint cottages, quaint pubs, pretty b&b's, guest houses and National Trust properties. The Chilterns are crossed by prehistoric byways which include the oldest road "The Ridgeway" and the Iron Age Hill Forts. They comprise of chalk hills covered with beautiful beech woods, wild flowers, orchids and a variety of wildlife including the famous red kites. The Chiltern Way is very popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders who can travel miles of beautiful countryside.

On your visit to the Chilterns you will have plenty of places to visit including the Dunstable Downs in Bedfordshire Wendover Woods in Buckinghamshire, Warburg Wildlife Reserve in Oxfordshire and the Grand Union Canal which starts in London and runs through to the Chilterns via Berkhamsted and Tring.

There are other activities for those that enjoy the great outdoors including bird watching, golf, fishing, mountain biking, bird watching, ballooning and gliding.

The Chilterns are easily accessible from the larger towns of London, Milton Keynes, Oxford and Reading with Heathrow and Luton airports less than an hours drive away. Chiltern Railways is the main provider for the area and the M40, M25 and M1 are close by.

Villages and towns within reach of the Chilterns include Princes Risborough, Henley, Wendover and Old Amersham where you will find a variety of shops for retail therapy and many good eating establishments from country pubs to quality restaurants.

The Chilterns are ideal for those on business, pleasure, a short break or a relaxing holiday.
