Author: sue The first step in verifying the creation of a CompTIA Security+ user account is to use the account to log on to a domain controller.
1.Log on to Serverl as Userl.
2.In the Logon Message message box, click OK.
3.In the Change Password dialog box, enter MSPress#l in the Old Password box, type student#l in the New Password box and the Confirm New Password box, and
click OK.
4.In the Change Password message box, click OK. Were you able to successfully log on? Why or why not?
No. By default, administrators have the right to log on to a domain controller, but regular users, like Userl, do not.
The second step in verifying the creation of a user account is to enable users to log on at a domain controller if you have not already done so. There are several ways to allow regular users to log on at a domain controller. In the next procedure, you acid the users to the Print Operators group because this group has the right to log on to a domain controller. A group is a collection of user accounts. Groups simplify administration by allowing you to assign permissions to a group of users rather than having to assign permissions to each individual user account. For more information on groups, see Chapter 8, "Administering Group Accounts."
1.Log on to Serverl as Administrator.
2.In the console tree of the comptia security+ exam Active Directory Users And Computers console, expand the East OU and the Chicago OU.
3.In the details pane, right-click User One, and then click Properties.
4.In the User One Properties dialog box, click the Member Of tab. Click Add.
5.In the Select Groups dialog box, select Advanced.
6.In the next Select Groups dialog box, click Find Now. Scroll clown the box displaying the groups and select the Print Operators group. Click OK.
7.In the Select Groups dialog box, click OK.
8.Click OK to close the User One Properties window.
9.Repeat steps 3-8 for User3, User5, User?, and User9.
10. Close the Active Directory Users And Computers console and log off.
To create domain user accounts, use the Active Directory Users And Computers console. Provide detailed property information for each domain user account that
you create so you can use this information to search for users in the directory.
A user profile is a collection of folders and data that stores the user's current desktop environment, application settings, and personal data. There are four types of Network+ certification user profiles: local, roaming, mandatory, and temporary.
