Choosing blankets to buy for the bedroom can actually be quite confusing, especially if you’re very particular with the materials being used and the sizes needed for each bed. You have tons of online and offline stores selling all kinds of blankets and all kinds of brands, so choosing one can take hours, maybe even days, till you’re satisfied with your purchase. Here are a few tips on how to choose blankets with regards to the materials being used and the different kinds of blankets according to size and function. • The first item on your criteria should be fabric content. This is going to have a big impact on your choice of blankets, so make sure that you choose wisely according to your budget and you’re your personal preference. Fabrics are available in both natural and synthetic fibers, so it would depend on you which type is best for your home and for your family. o Blankets made with natural fibers are durable and promote breathability when used. Most people find these more comfortable to use because of these two traits, so if you’re after comfortable and breathable blankets, look for those that are made with natural fibers. Some examples of natural fiber blankets include cotton, wool, and down blankets. o Blankets made with synthetic fibers, on the other hand, prioritize warmth and are much cheaper as compared to those made naturally. The only downside to this type is that they lack breathability and can be uncomfortable during hotter seasons. Popular examples of synthetic fiber blankets include acrylic, fleece, and vellux blankets. Acrylic blankets are especially cheaper than natural fiber blankets plus they provide warmth, are soft to the touch, and are hypo-allergenic. • Choosing a blanket also means checking out the type of construction or weave of the blanket. This has to do with the warmth and insulation the blanket provides to the user. There are two types of blankets based on weaving: thermal and conventional. o Thermal blankets usually are woven loosely as compared to conventional blankets in order to allow air to circulate. These are best for people who do not need so much warmth during sleep. It is made with acrylic and cotton fibers. o The conventional blanket is the complete opposite. It is tightly woven in order to provide warmth and insulation for the body. These blankets are made with synthetic or wool fibers, ideal for those who are sensitive to cold weather. Buy this kind of blanket if you are the type of sleeper who easily feels cold during the evenings and need more warmth to be able to sleep soundly.
