Author: fiona Now you've configured the scenario described above. The following MCTS steps take you through troubleshooting and resolving the issue:
1.Restart Serverl in an attempt to initiate application installation.
2.Log on to Serverl using the domain administrator user name and password.
3.Run the Gpresult command. What do you see concerning the MBSA policy?
The MBSA policy was not applied because the GPO is disabled.
4.Open the Active Directory Users And Computers console. Open the Domain Controllers Properties dialog box, and then open the MBSA Properties dialog box.
Clear the Disable Computer Configuration Settings check box. Click OK. Note that the warning icon has been removed from the MBSA policy on the Domain Con?
trollers Properties dialog box.
5.Click OK in the Domain Controllers Properties dialog box.
6.Run the Repadmin /syncall command to ensure that the policy is replicated as quickly as possible. Wait two minutes before proceeding to the next step.
7.Restart Serverl. Log on to Serverl using the domain administrator user name and password.
8.You should see that the Microsoft Baseline Security Advisor tool is now installed.
Close all of the open MBSA Windows 7,Configuration windows.
Many different issues might cause an application not to be deployed. The most common reasons are policy inheritance blocking, security filtering, replication errors, network connectivity issues, or that the policy or part of the policy has been disabled. Gpresult helps you identify these problems.
You can remove the MBSA policy once you've completed this lab. The full benefit of software distribution is not realized in this lab because you have only two computers in your test environment and only one of those computers (Serverl) is in an OU. The real benefits become obvious when there are many computers in one or more OUs to which you can auto?matically distribute software.
Before taking the exam, review the key points and terms that are presented in this chapter. You need to know this information.
Upgrade software deployed with Group Policy by creating a Windows Installer package that contains the upgrade and then configure the upgrade in the Upgrades tab in the Properties dialog box for the package.
Remove software deployed with Group Policy by using the Software Installation extension. Determine whether to uninstall the software from all users and computers or to merely prevent Network+ certification new installations of the software.
