Everybody know that tires are round, black and made of rubber, but when you need to choose tires to fit your car you need more than this, you can find very good ones in many places, if you know what are you looking for, they are probably the most important safety feature on your vehicle.

The first step is to check your owner's manual, knowing obiously the year, make and model of your vehicle, also there you can find all data you need about wide, height, size, etc. You can also check on the sidewall of your tires for numbers, the common way you will find it is for example: 215/65 R 15 where 215 indicates the width in milimiters from sidewall to sidewall, 65 is the aspect ratio, it means 65 % of its width is its height. R 15 mean that that tire fits a 15 inch rim. Anyway, if you don't have your manual you can proceed with the year, make and model only, the dealer should be able to find what kind of tires your vehicle must use.

Analyzing your driving style should help you to select the appropiate tire, do you drive most of the time off-road? how many miles you drive per month? per year? always on the road? snow or rain conditions? ask yourself this kind of questions before you select your tires, there are a wide variety available for cars, trucks, SUVs etc. Each one has different handling, traction and ride characteristics and are made for different purposes.

Finally, remember, never downgrade your tires just because they are cheaper, always upgrade or keep the same quality at least, it's not going to be safe driving with tires without good quality, they won't grip to the ground no matter how good is your vehicle.
