There are innumerable factors that are affecting the environment today. Pollution has crossed all limits and has started influencing the nature as well as human beings in an adverse way. Various scientific technologies have been implemented by the governments of various countries so that solutions to these problems can be sought easily. CSA 2010 is one such initiative that has proved to be very successful and is showing affirmative results. CSA stands for Compliance, Safety and Accountability and is mainly applicable to commercial motor vehicles that directly deal with transportation of hazardous materials. The initiative was mainly taken by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). FSO stands for Facility Security Officers, who are in charge of taking care that the dangerous goods are handled carefully or not.

CSA 2010 has implemented some rules and regulations that will have positive effects on the environment and will also protect nature simultaneously. All this is directly and indirectly related to transportation of hazardous materials in vehicles. There are specialized vehicles in which such goods should be transported so that no damage is done to the goods as well to the environment and the nearby people. According to the rules and regulations of CSA 2010, the amount of toxins and chemicals hazards that can be caused by the hazardous materials to nature is tested in advance before they are transported from one place to the other. FSO are always present when the tests are done as well as at the time of transportation of the hazardous materials. While transportation, the dangerous goods can cause air and water contamination and become really dangerous. Thus they are well packed and sealed and sent in special carriers.

The government of US is very strict in these matters and follows the CSA 2010 regulations to the maximum. They also allot FSO, i.e. Facility Security Officers at every point to ensure that no damage or harm is done to the environment while the hazardous materials are being carried from one destination to the other. FSOs are present in all high alert zones including docks and airports as cargo is loaded and unloaded from these places. Some cargo might contain hazardous goods and FSO has to take full responsibility that they are loaded or unloaded safely without harming the environment or the human beings who are around.

According to CSA 2010, some products have been categorized into hazardous materials. Some of the most common dangerous goods include radioactive elements, deadly toxic elements, fuels which are mostly explosive and inflammable, corrosive chemical elements, compressed liquid gases, hazardous materials wastes and many more. A person who is a highly trained FSO has the ability of fighting against all such hazardous elements and products and saving the life of humans as well the environment at the same time. The trainings that FSOs have to undergo are rigorous and on completing such trainings, certificates are provided. Only then does a person get permission to handle such dangerous goods. CSA 2010 and FSO are really great initiatives for the society and the environment at a large.
