One problem with widely popular cruise destinations is that they usually attract large numbers of tourists. That is great for the cruise companies, and the various vendors selling goods and services to tourists at cruise ports each year. Many coastal nations and cities rely on the income generated by tourism to support their economic structures. This may not seem great from the viewpoint of travelers because the large crowds can make it more difficult to explore and enjoy visiting these areas. You can circumvent much of the frustrations of booking cruises to destinations sure to be packed with other tourist simply by choosing destinations that draw fewer crowds yet offer you loads of thrilling adventures and experiences. You do not have to forego the opportunity to visit amazing world treasures from around the world to avoid huge crowds. You can still get to them through lesser traveled routes and departure times. At the same time, you can see unique areas you might otherwise never know of and miss seeing.

Immense numbers of people take cruises to the West Caribbean each year. It is not surprising as the Caribbean offers a temperate climate, stunning landmasses, calm waters with sunny beaches, and much more for tourists to enjoy. Lesser-known Eastern and Southern destinations of the Caribbean are a way to see the area without having to contend with large crowds. The lushness and beauty are just as magnificent in these cruise destinations as are cruises to destinations in the Western portions of the Caribbean. It is not possible to visit every island located in the Caribbean regardless s of whether you are visiting West, East, or Southern ports of call in just a single cruise. However, you can take in several of them in a seven to fourteen day cruise, and have others to visit on future cruises.

Libya reopened to American visitors in 2008 and it is a safe and interesting place to visit. Tourists come to see the ancient Greek and Roman archeological sites, and enjoy the splendid beaches and other exciting tourist attractions.

Cruises with destinations in Holland and Belgium generally have smaller passenger lists per cruise ship, although numerous cruises take place throughout the year. This provides the chance to visit many historic places throughout this region without having to encounter large crowds at ports along the way.

Mongolia is also a lesser-known cruise destination that provides an adventuresome cruise for travelers. This remote region may require numerous treks throughout the area. It may not be a great vacation choice for those who are not very active. Nevertheless, this is one of the best places to go if you want to see vast areas of unspoiled landscapes and waterways.

Cruise to Sweden’s Gota Canal for a destination not overly crowed with tourists. Three ancient ships are found lining the shores of the manmade canals between Gothenburg and Stockholm and provide an intriguing look into the past. Enjoy a winery tour or sightseeing tours through historic cities and monuments of Sweden.

Nestled quietly between the North Pole and Norway you can find Spitsbergen. This is not as highly trafficked as other Artic cruise destinations. This is the perfect choice for those who would like to have fewer fellow travelers to contend with when visiting various port venues.

Baltic nations in Northern Europe like Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia have thriving metropolises and cruises here provide passengers with a multitude of fun and exciting things to experience through different ports along the way.

Many Black Sea and Indian Ocean cruises can take you to areas with fewer crowds. These allow you to truly appreciate the majestic beauty, preserved rich cultures, and unique opportunities not found anywhere else. These regions have much to offer to people who choose cruises to these areas.

Tahiti offers the chance to see delightful destinations in a temperate climatic zone with cruises spread out to give everyone more freedom to take in the sights, shops, restaurants, and dance. Many other exciting activities at different port stops may also be available.

Canada is another excellent choice that you may not have considered. Canada has a picturesque countryside making for some fabulous photo opportunities, abundant wildlife, historic and national treasures, great food, and friendly residents who welcome visitors to the smallest of their villages and enclaves.

When searching for a vacation resort, you want to find an area with tourists do not outnumber residents. This can help you find other lesser-known cruise destinations. Many cruise lines now cater to people who want to visit these destinations and even remote places that have had less human presence and therefore less impact or changes to their natural resources.
