There are many different methods to remove unwanted hair. Some of these include waxing, shaving, coils, electrolysis and laser. Although each has its advantages and disadvantages, they all perform the same function. This removal of unwanted hair.

One such method, which has become quite popular these days is hair removal by laser. This method works by using a laser on the hair at a specified wavelength that emits a specialized light. Light from the laser passes through the skin and is absorbed by the hair follicle. This light is really focused on the melanin (color) in the hair follicle and damages it, causing the hair falls out. It is interesting to note that the use of certain laser for hair removal was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Although the technique is very popular, there are advantages and disadvantages of using this method.

Hair removal by laser process has its advantages in this area more curable. In addition, it is also fairly safe for use on all parts of the body, such as face, back, underarm, bikini line, legs and hands. Compared with electrolysis, it is less painful as the laser only causes a slight burning sensation, compared with the feeling of an injection needle electrolysis. Unlike shaving or waxing, laser hair removal, as a rule, long-lasting.

One disadvantage for laser hair removal is that not everyone is an ideal candidate for this type of treatment. Those with fair skin and dark hair have a much greater chance of permanent hair removal than gray, red or blond hair. In addition, those with dark skin or tanned, which also are not good candidates as the laser can cause damage to their skin because of the high level of pigment. The reason is that dark hair contains a pigment called eumelanin which effectively absorbs more laser energy and, consequently, leads to more effective destruction of the hair follicle. In connection with the higher efficiency of the treatment of patients with dark hair fair skin, it leads to fewer complaints and therefore less costly. Other the other hand, gray, red and blonde hair contain a pigment called pheomelanin that absorbs less laser energy reducing the effectiveness of treatment. Therefore, further treatment is required for the same effect. So, before you sign up for such treatment, and make sure that you know, most of this treatment. If you are not an ideal candidate, be prepared for extra treatment charges.

Laser hair removal is expensive because of the many procedures required. The reasons is that hair grows in a cycle, which varies from approximately 6 to 12 weeks, and this amount of time required for the growth of hair at the base of the follicle to the skin surface. As hair grows during these cycles, only a portion of the hair is being considered during this period of growth with each laser treatment. Therefore, multiple treatments (approximately four to eight depending on the color of your hair and skin) are required during this period of growth. This is explained by the fact that each treatment allows total coverage on all the hair on different growth cycle. It may be in the range from approximately four to eight weeks interval. As mentioned above, tinted hair, patients with fair skin will require less treatment.
