Hooters Hotel Las Vegas: Is It Good Value For Money?

I was cynical when Hooters acquired the San Remo Hotel in Las Vegas, in 2004. Hooters have been involved mainly in the restaurant industry, and this is their first foray into the hotel industry. Would they do justice, was the question that I asked.

So, you could say that I had a bit of a mental bias, when I did land up in Las Vegas, and at the Hooters Hotel.

To start off, I couldn't fault the hotel's location. I flew into Vegas, and was pleasantly surprised when the cab I took from the airport cost me just $10, after a short drive.

The first thing I noticed about the location of the hotel was that it is bang opposite to the monorail station, and the MGM. Also, the Strip is just a few blocks away, and I love walking.

I have been to many Hooters restaurants, and I am familiar with the orange and light gold color theme, on the walls and furniture. So, I felt as though I had already been there before, when I walked into the lobby. I was tired after the flight that landed in the afternoon, and I was delighted to see the well-appointed bar, right next to the reception area. I sat down to a cool beer, before going up to my room.

The room was cozy and gave me the ocean view that I had asked for. Fortunately, I had booked a month earlier, and seeing the crowd at the hotel and the scarcity of vacant rooms, I was glad I did. The bed was ultra comfortable, and everything was neat and clean. There was an orange bar stool, typical of Hooters. There was also a computer, and I could access the Internet, for a small fee.

Went down to the pool but found that the sun was hidden by the hotel building. I made a mental note to get there early the next morning. I had a Hooters juice at the pool bar. Somebody recommended the Nippers juice, and I had that, too. Both were delicious.

There are five restaurants, with the Dam and the Hooters restaurants being the most popular. Dan Marino's steakhouse serves delicious ribs. Hooters girls were ubiquitous, in their trademark orange T-shirts, and white shorts.

I went to the casino in the evening, and I was delighted. It's small but very cozy, and very family-like, with friendly hotel staff. My only complaint is about the high table limits, of $10. But the cocktail service is very quick, and the girls fill up your glass, almost as soon as it is empty.

I found that the Tropicana next door had the lowest table limits of $5. Also, the beer there was cheaper.

Rooms are available for $50 and up. All in all, Hooter Hotel Las Vegas has a fun atmosphere and gives great bang for your buck.
