Have you ever noticed how certain colours affect your mood. Bright yellows work for me and so do reds and soft pinks. It’s not just about how something looks, but how it feels. It’s probably why my favourite lipstick is a deep-red. Rich, deep colours are feel-good triggers, and they put me in a power-mode. Try this, to test out this theory. Tell someone at work, which looks exceptionally good in the colour they are wearing, that they’re wearing one of their power colours. You might say something like: “Hey Bob, nice hot pink tie you’re wearing there. Looks like you’re wearing one of your power colours”. You’ll probably see a change in their posture right away, although ever so subtly, like a straightening of the shoulders or maybe a slight pulling in of the stomach. And then observe how they are the rest of the day. If they weren’t in power mood when you said something, they probably will be. And you’ve probably just helped anchor a good-feeling with that colour for them, so that every time they wear hot pink, they’ll look and act as if they’re wearing a power colour. So if colours affect our mood, go for them first thing in the morning. Ladies, that’d be in the lipstick, guys it might be the tie. You see you want just enough of a splash of colour to give you your colour buzz for the day, but not so much that people step back from you temporarily blinded by your attire. More and more, especially in the current economic climate, low-key is the modus operandi adopted by many employees. If you’re seen screaming in colour and good spirits, you might just be perceived as not working hard enough. I’ve just added a new dimension to my dash of deep red. Why not go for the organic red, a healthy red â€"the kind that evokes pictures crunchy red apples from the farm? I’m going to do a copy-cat of Michael Heppell, author of How to Be Brilliant (2003). Michael likes to go around motivating people by saying: “it’s no longer good enough to be good”, you want to be brilliant. Well I’ve decided “Red is not enough. It’s got to be organic red”. Afterglow Cosmetics (http://afterglowcosmetics.com/) offer the organic cosmetic experience, starting with organic lipstick, lipliners and hydragloss. They sound healthy and hydrating for the lips. And don’t you just love the Afterglow mineral lipstick names. Secret. Kiss. Autumn. Merlot. Like an invitation to have a deep-red secret kiss in autumn sealed with a sip of merlot. Nice. Check out the collection (http://store.afterglowcosmetics.com/LIPS).

Afterglow Foundations are free bismuth oxychloride-free and paraben-free, and gluten-free. All ingredients are pharmaceutical grade minerals and pigments and certified organic botanicals.

Embrace the motto: “Organic whenever possible”. And hey, if you decide you want to run around saying “Kiss me, I’m organic”, be my guest. You’ll probably end up spreading the good word for Afterglow Cosmetics. Me, I’m just going for the power-colour effect.
