Why has the United States and the world mainly focused on men’s sexual problems despite the fact that women are much more likely to have low libido than men. Repeatedly, studies have shown that women have more complaints than men regarding sexual functioning and low female libido. The most common complaints for women include lack of sexual desire, painful intercourse, and problems with arousal. Experts agree that most of these problems increase as a woman ages. Why has research on low libido in women been so lacking? It's mainly caused by the difficulty of defining the problem of low sexual desire in women. Impotence in men is easily diagnosed as the inability to obtain or maintain an erection. For women in today’s society, libido problems are more complex. Sexual problems for women can include pain during intercourse, lack of vaginal lubrication and moisture, loss or lack of desire, and an inability to climax or orgasm. The causes of these problems may be physical due to medical conditions or medications, or psychological such as depression and/or stress. A woman’s lifestyle can also affect her libido. Pharmaceutical companies have formulated many medications to help increase a man’s sex drive and satisfaction with his sex life. We’ve all heard of “the little blue pill” called Viagra. There are very few female libido pills or medications available for the women who suffer from low libido. More time and research will be needed to find drugs that can improve the female sexual response. The good news is that as researchers discover more about the causes of female low libido, the more likely they will find medications that work for women. New drugs and remedies are currently in development, which are specifically for women's sexual problems. Although many of these remedies to increase libido are years away from being approved. There are several female libido enhancements that are available on the market today for women. These are formulated to help women who suffer from all different causes of low libido. Many of these remedies use a blend of natural herbs to enhance female libido . So, as we see it, the future for women’s sexual enhancement and satisfaction looks excellent.
