It seems that with each passing year more individuals are turning to alternative sources of income. The general consensus is that 2008 will lead more people into the work at home industry than ever before. With talk in the news of a possible recession, home employment is an option being investigated by increasing numbers every day. The intention of this article is to bring to light how the economy might influence you when deciding if working from home is a viable option.

There is very little doubt that major employers are becoming more apprehensive when it comes to the subject of hiring new workers. Recent reports indicate that job payroll cuts in February reached a level that has not been seen in the past five years. This could be one of the major factors involved that leads so many people to search for ways to work at home and supplement their current income and even start a full time business from home.

Working from home not only allows you to make the type of income you desire, but also provides a less stressful environment in which to work. I believe that one of the main reasons so many people make the switch to home employment is that they are tired of having a boss constantly looking over their shoulder. They are fed up with office politics and feeling as though doing cartwheels and jumping through hoops is required to get a raise that never seems to be enough to keep up with the cost of living.

Inflation continues to rise each and every year with some experts suggesting there has been as much as a four percent increase in the past twelve months. My personal opinion is that this is a slightly conservative estimate. I have seen the price of some things nearly double in the past year, with food items being a good example. This brings into play some of the advantages of work at home employment, such as being able to save money on lunches and work attire, as well as on gas and maintenance for your vehicle.

The cost of gasoline has risen to record highs in recent years and is expected to go up by at least another forty cents or more per gallon this year. A large number of people have to commute quite a distance to and from their job, some driving as much as two hours each way. When you consider that some put in as many as to ten to twelve hours a day at their job, that doesn't leave much time to spend at home with their family and friends.

A struggling economy can affect the decisions we make about our future in many different ways. Whether or not a work at home opportunity is the right way to go is something only you can decide. Home employment has many great advantages and provides people with life changing opportunities which will be discussed in future articles.
