Author: Brent Durell Sometimes you will need to print labels specifically to attract certain people. This can be for product labels or maybe some kind of special business project for label printing. Whatever the case, when you are tasked to create color labels for a specific audience, the landscape of design changes. You will have to create designs specifically to attract your target readers. To do this, you will need to remember these key concepts.
a. Audience research - Research is a key factor in specializing your color labels for an audience. You will need information on the preferences of your target audience to know which kinds of design elements are most appropriate for them. Generally, you will want to know the basic demographic data about your audiences, plus the general trends inherent in your industry. With proper audience research you can easily guide your designs to the right direction. So do not forget to do your homework and research well.
b. Images and wants - Now, the first and easiest thing to do in specializing your color labels for an audience is to use an image that is powerfully appealing to them. Depending on your target audience, this can vary of course. However, as long as you pick the right one that really attracts your target, the color label's impact and power can be undeniable.
For example, if your target readers for your labels are your male workers, using a beautiful lady with your labels can add that enticing effect for them to look at the label first and then discover the other details. Of course, the opposite is true for female workers as well. These specific images and wants can be a useful concept in your targeted label designs. So use it whenever possible.
c. Audience specific themes - Some audiences will also be more attracted to specific label themes than others. This is particularly important for business product labels where you have specific target customers for products. Younger target markets will need more fresh looking color designs that represent their young culture. Web based or social media based designs for labels work particularly well since that is what most of the youth market consume these days. For older markets, a more professional and traditional look is still more ideal of course.
Using your research, you should be able to pick the best themes for your specific target readers. You should be able to get the right people to read your labels with the appropriate specific themes.
d. Audience specific action instructions - Finally, you do not of course create custom labels just to help people identify something. Sometimes, labels are also meant to encourage people to take action. With this regard, you will also need to design your labels in such a way that the action instructions are easily understood by your targets.
For example, if your custom labels are meant for a more general crowd, you may want to print step by step instructions so that everyone knows what to do. If however you are targeting a more specialized crowd who knows what they are doing, then you can save some design space and only indicate the important information that those people need to know. By doing these things, the response rate for your labels will be a lot more effective and efficient, giving you less worries in label printing.
Great! Hopefully now, you can print labels with that certain finesse and specificity that can target who you need with no real trouble. Good Luck!
