Most people looking to start a home business are actually looking to sit on the couch and catch up on Dr. Phil and Opera while they miraculously make a ton of money. This couldn't be further from the reality of a home business. Home businesses take dedication, patience, and effort for them to be successful. Being comfortable should be the most uncomfortable feeling for a home business owner. It means that you have settled for where you're at and you definitely won't move forward and grow, and most likely... you'll fail.
The start up phase of a home based business is definitely the most crucial. Unfortunately, a lot of people think that when they start a home business they will instantly make a ton of money, hardly work at all, and life will just be so easy now. If it really were this way, everybody would have a home business. The reason everybody doesn't? Because only those who persevere and who are willing to be uncomfortable will make it. The beginning phase of the work-at-home career is definitely the most difficult, but those who are willing to step out of their comfort zones and who show the patience to stick with it will be rewarded. When I started my internet advertising business, I really didn't know what I was getting into. But, I did know that I was going to make it work because I didn't want to set foot in a corporate board room again. Also, I had access to some internet marketing experts who were willing to guide me and help me get through the first stage. Having access to people who know more than you about what you're doing is very important.
The second phase is when you have actually made it a business. This means that you've made money! Now is when most people decided that if they can just duplicate those results over and over, they can make a living. Well, maybe... but, if you didn't make much of a profit (which is usually the case early on), then you'll only be duplicating minimal results over and over. If you're going to do the work anyhow, you might as well duplicate bigger results over and over. To do this, you again have to get uncomfortable! To grow your business and make real money, you have to make it more efficient and cost effective. This probably requires hours and hours or research to figure out what areas of your business you could save money in. Don't forget that a dollar saved is a dollar earned. Eventually, if you are "earning" more dollars, you can expand your advertising budget or maybe ad a new product line that you figure to be very profitable. Whatever the case, if you were willing to change what worked into what will work better, your business will go through the roof. Now you're ready to move into the last stage.
The last stage of the home business is filled with those who have not only made a lot of money from home, but who are willing to expand their business. Again, this requires a person to be uncomfortable. Just when they're making good money, they're supposed to change? Exactly! In my business, to be at the top, you have to be willing to show others how to do what you have done. If you find the right people to train, they'll be successful and you can work a deal with them where you share in their profits. Eventually, not only will you be making money from your business, but you'll be making it from their businesses too. You could even retire at some point (if you want to).
The lesson to be learned is this: it doesn't matter what business you're in, if you are going to be successful, you have to be a little uncomfortable to get there. For a home businesses to be successful, a person must be willing to work hard, be dedicated, and be patient. And most importantly, a home business owner needs to get out of his or her comfort zone to make it a success. Remember, comfort should make a home business owner very uncomfortable.
