If you plan to come to Ukraine first there can be questions you are asking yourself starting from climate, visa and payment opportunities and finishing by local cuisine and places of interest. We hope you will come across all this replies in this article. Ukraine is an open state for EU nationals, that's why you will not come across any visa difficulties. If you are not from European Union country you will need an invitation letter. The easiest way to get to Ukraine is by air. The most probably your tickets will be to Kiev international airport. There one will find many opportunities to reach any place in Ukraine you need - by coach, train, plane or car. Where to live in Kharkiv, Ukraine? To be safe it would be better to solve this problem in advance. You can make reservation for a room in a hotel or rent a flat. Hotels in Ukraine are rather expensive and it is effective to rent a flat in Kharkov for example here http://apartments.kharkov.ua/eng.htm or http://www.apartment.kharkov.ua/en/ http://www.kharkovrent.com.ua/en/. You can do it from the internet, from the site of an accommodation let company like http://apartments.kharkov.ua/eng.htm . But be careful to search for a serious company, and don't make a prepayment if you aren't sure, Internet is a place where a person can be easily cheated. Ukrainian currency is hrivnya. It's easy to exchange euros or dollars in banks in Ukaine and currency exchange. You can also use a credit card to take money from a cash machine. But consider that there can be limit for a sum of money to be got out for one time and bank charge for the operation. Unfortunately there are not many places where a person can pay by card, usually they are supermarkets, some chemists' and restaurants. But it is better to learn beforehand if the place you are going to accepts cards. You will not have food difficulties in Ukraine. There are a lot of restaurants ans coffees with any kind of cuisine. We advise you to try Ukrainian cuisine. The most well-known dishes of which are borstch, vareniki, okroshka, kvas. If you prefer to cook for yourself you will need to go to a supermarket where you will find everything you need. Ukraine is not a "criminal" country and it is secure to walk in the streets. Surely there are some places that can be not safe to walk at night, but they are as a rule in the outskirts and you will hardly go there. There are many places to goin the evening in big cities in Ukraine â€" night clubs that play all kinds of music, bowling and billiard, casino. You can go to aqua park, sauna or banya (you can try Russian banya which differs from sauna). If you like to rest actively there are many sport activities as horse back riding, skating, carting, golf, tennis, badminton, skiing in winter. As for local transport there are buses, trolley buses, trams, big Ukrainian cities have an underground. The cots is not high. If you do not like local transport you can rent a car. And one more detail you should remember when going to Ukraine. People there speak Ukrainian or Russian language. The most of people understand English, but don't be surprised if you aren't understood. So it is preferrable if you take a translator or learn some much used phrases in Russian, for example dobriy den` (good afternoon), privet (hello), do svidania (good bye), spasibo (thank you), mne nuzhna pomosch (I need help). We won't speak here about climate and places of interest. They can be easily found in internet web sites. In the end we would like to notice that all foreigners who have been to Ukraine mark the beauty of Ukrainian nature and hospitability of Ukrainians. We wish you to have a nice time in Ukraine.
